Kerrosmekko / Bardon dress

Tämä mekko on ommeltu australialaisen Peppermint Magazine -lehden sivuilta ilmaiseksi löytyvällä Bardon dress -ompelukaavalla. Kankaan ostin entiseltä kangaskauppiaalta eurolla, koska siinä oli värivaurio. Se on ainakin pari vuosikymmentä vanha ja ruskea väri ja lintukuvio henkivät vahvasti 70-lukua. Vihreä hapsunauha maksoi vitosen.

This dress is sewn with the Bardon Dress pattern that can be found from Australian Peppermint Magazine's website for free. I got the deadstock fabric that had colour damages for 1 euro and the green trimming used for the hem cost 5 euros. The colour damages would bother me in a new fabric, but this is propably decade or few old, so some fading is understandable.

The hat and mittens are diy makes, the turtleneck is thrifted and the Swedish Hasbeens boots are a sales find.

Kirjoneulepipo / Bernie beanie

Tällä viikolla Ravelryyn ilmestyi useita Bernie Sandersin inspiroimia ohjeita. Käytin Meg Harlanin julkaisemaa Vermont's Finest (Bernie's mittens) -ohjetta tähän pipoon. Langat varastostani löytyneitä erilaisia keskipaksuja lankoja. Puikkokoko 4.5 mm.

This beanie is knitted with the Vermont's Finest (Bernie's mittens) pattern that is published on Ravelry for free by Meg Harlan. The original Bernie's mittens are refashioned out of an old sweater by Jen Ellis. I used stash yarn and 4.5 mm needles.

 

Viileitä neuleita / Cool knits

Nämä villa-, puuvilla- ja akryylineulepaidat ovat valmisvaatteita, jotka ovat selvinneet konmarituksesta. Aamulla tulee väkisinkin hyvälle tuulelle, kun laittaa ylleen jotain hauskaa. Ja toivottavasti päivän mittaan jokin yllättävä yksityiskohta ilostuttaa myös muita.

These ready-to-wear sweaters have high fun-factor, so ended up buing them, even if I didn't really need them. They pass the Komari test, as they all spark joy, and it is nice to wear something kitschy and cool, which hopefully make other people smile too.

Myssylä / Stripey beanie

Tämä Party of Five Hat -ohjetta mukaileva pipo on tehty Wave of Change -paidan jämälangoista, jotka ovat Scheepjes Stone Washed XL -puuvillasekoitelankaa. Neuloin niin pitkään kuin lyhimmät lankakerät sallivat ja loput langanpätkät päätyivät tupsuun. Puikkokoko 4.5 mm.

This hat is made from the left-over yarns of the Wave of Change Pullover that I'm wearing here. The jumping off point for my benie is the Party of Five Hat by Jill Zielinski. I used 4.5 mm circular needle and knitted as long as the smaller skeins allowed me to go. I use the jogless join technique, so that the yarn changes would look as smooth as possible. The last bits of the yarn balls are usd in the pom-pom.

Piponen / Scrappy textured hat

Tämä pipo on tehty jämälangoista, joista rusehtava on Scheepjes Stone Wsashed XL -lankaa ja vihreä ja sininen hyvin samankaltaista Novita Kotaa. Malli on sekoitus Courtney Kelleyn July Hat -ohjetta ja Maria Carlanderin Little Scallops -ohjetta. Puikkokoko 5 mm.

This hat is made with scrap yarns, and I mashed up two patterns together, July Hat by Courtney Kelley and Little Scallops by Maria Carlander. The brownish yarn is Scheepjes Stone Washed XL, and the blue and green yarns are Novita Kota. Both are airy cotton-blend yarns. Needles 5 mm.

 

Väripläjäyspaita / Wave of Change Pullover

Tämä paita on neulottu Denise Bayronin Wave of Change -ohjetta muokaten. Olin ostanut syksyllä lajitelman eri värisiä keriä Scheepjes Stone Washed XL -lankaa ja etsin sopivaa paitaa, jossa raidoittaa ne mahdollisimman sateenkaarimaisella efektillä. Päästyäni olkapäihin tässä mallissa tajusin kuitenkin, että yksi kerä riittää vain noin kahteen raitaan, joten raidoituksesta tuli aiottua epäsäännöllisempi. Puikot 5 mm ja 5.5 mm.

This sweater is knitted with the Wave of Change Pullover pattern that is designed by Denise Bayron. I had gotten the yarns, 10 skeins of Scheepjes Stone Washed XL, on sale in the Autumn without a plan where to use them, and was looking for a pattern to create a rainbow-gradient effect in. One skein of each colour was bit tricky to maneuver for an even result, so this became cropped to save yarn and the rainbow-effect is not as clear as intended. I used needles in 5 mm and 5.5 mm.

Vuosikertakäsineitä / Evergreen gloves and mittens

 

Tässä suurin osa lapas-, hansikas- ja kynsikäsvalikoimastani. Rajattuna kaksi lahjaksi saatua paria ja parsitut valmisvaatehanskat.

Here are most of my DIY mittens, gloves and fingerless mitts. The three pairs in top right are gifts or repaired.

Vintagetyyliä ja käsinemuotia 1800-luvulle sijoittuvista Emma ja Pikku naisia -elokuvista. Keskellä ylhäällä ja alhaalla oleviin lapasiin löytyy ohjeet englanniksi ja myös virkattujen käsineiden ohje keskellä on saatavilla ilmaiseksi.

Vintage gloves and mittens are from Emma and Little Women, both set in the 1800s. And for knitting similar vintage mittens there are the center top and bottom patterns available at Free Vintage Knitting and the gloves at the center have a pattern in Free Vintage Crochet.

Lapasmalli aikojen takaa / Little Women mittens

Nämä lapaset ovat saaneet innoituksensa parin vuoden takaisesta Pikku naisia -elokuvasta. Siinä on sävykäs puvustus, joka perustuu oikeisiin 1800-luvun puolivälin tyyleihin. Itse löysin Jon lapasia vastaavan Fyrklöver-mallin ruotsalaisesta Gotländska stickmönster -kirjasta. Langat Novitan Nallea ja puikot 2.75 mm. Oman lapaslaarini ollessa melko täysi nämä päätyvät hyväntekeväisyyteen.

These mittens are influenced by the lovely mittens worn by Jo in the latest Little Women film. In the director's comments she said that the costume designer had aimed for accuracy with styles of mid 1800s. These are several classic knits, and with the mittens I found a similar Fyrklöver pattern from a Swedish book Gotländska stickmönster. The book was published in 1980s, but the foreword tells the mitten patterns are selected from a 1920s book, and the history of pattern goes beyond that as traditional patterns have been used in Gotland for centuries. I used a sock-yarn with wool and nylon called Novita Nalle and 2.75 mm needles. As I don't need new mittens, but love making them, I'll give these away to charity.
