Retrokukkahattu / Retro flora hat

 

Tämä pipo on neulottu Flora-ohjeella Sarita Kotkavalkaman kirjasta Vilukissan villapipot. Langat on Novita Usvaa, jota ostin pienen säkin alesta joskus kun langan tuotanto ilmeisesti lopetettiin, ja se varasto alkaa nyt olla lopuillaan. Puikot 4 mm.

This beanie is made with a pattern called Flora that is by Finnish designer Sarita Kotkavalkama. I used wool-blend yarn called Usva, that has been discontinued but I have a small stash of, and these start to be the last yards, or meters, of it. The colours are nice earth-tones and match each other well. Needle size was 4 mm.

Pilvenpiirtäjäpipo / Skyline hat

 

Tämä pilvenpiirtäjähattu on neulottu Nen Schoonoverin The Skyline Hat -ilmaisohjeella. Lankoina mustaa ja valkoista Novitan 7:ää veljestä ja lilaa Rusta Alice -kierrätysakryylilankaa, jota löysin kerän kirpparilta. Puikot 3.5 mm.

This beanie is made with The Skyline Hat pattern that is by Nen Schoonover and is available for free in Ravelry. Yarns are left-overs of thicker sock yarns from my stash and the purple is a thrifted skein of acrylic made of recycled material. This goes to the gift pile, but I am tempted to make one for my on use too. Needles were 3.5 mm

Kissalepakkopipo / Catman

Tein kämmekkäät pari vuotta sitten Marna Gilliganin Cat Knits -kirjasta ja nyt päätin tehdä pipon samalla kissakuviolla, joka on sopii niin lepakko- kuin kissaihmisellekin. Langat on jämälankoja ja puikot 4 mm.

I made kitten mitts from Marna Gilligan's Cat Knits book couple years ago and now I made a hat with the same cat-motif, that could be either bats or cats. Yarns are scrap yarns and needle size was 4 mm.

Färsaarelaiset lasten lapaset / Mittens around the World - Faroe Islands

Nojatuolimatkalla maailman ympäri lapasohjeiden avulla päädyin Färsaarille, joka oman erityisen kulttuurinsa ja eristyneen sijaintinsa sekä itsehallintoaluestatuksensa ansiosta ansaitsee omat lapasensa. Malli on Hilde Venevil Sandhun Faroese toddler mittens. Langat on jämälankoja, ja esimerkiksi sinisen langan loputtua jatkoin violetilla lapasten kärjissä. Puikkokoko 2.75 mm.

On my armchair trip around the World with mitten patterns I came across a pattern inspired by traditions of the Faroe Islands, which are part of Denmark, but distinctive in culture, language and landscape. Faroese toddler mittens are designed by Hilde Venevil Sandhu. I used scrap yarns and 2.75 mm needles.

 

Hohto-lapaset / Shining mittens

Nämä vanttuut on neulottu Merja Aikioniemen ilmaisohjeella Hohto-lapaset. Kuvio on Hohto-elokuvan innoittama ja muistuttaa geometrisiä, hypnoottisia käytävämattoja elokuvassa. Langat on jämälankoja ja puikkokokona 4 mm.

These mittens are knitted with Hohto-lapaset pattern that is by Merja Aikioniemi and is available for free in Finnish in Ravelry. The pattern is inspired by the notorious carpet from the film Shining. I simplified them by using only two colours in the colourwork to use up scrap yarns. Needle size was 4 mm.

 

Tipitii / Head-to-toe yellow

Virkattu hymiölaukku / Smiley bag

Virkkasin ja kirjoin hymiöitä Molla Millsin Smile-ohjeella, joka löytyy kirjasta Langankiertoja. Ajattelin ensin ommella pohjalaukun, mutta päällystinkin niillä ilmaiseksi saadun mainoskassin, joka on tehty kierrätyspuuvillasta. Keltainen puuvillalanka on kierrätyskeskuksesta, josta lankoja sai pienen pussillisen eurolla. Musta lanka on uutena ostettua Alize Angora Gold Simliä. Hieman pinkkiä jämälankaa kului vaihtoehtohymiöihin. Kirjan perushymiöiden lisäksi kaipasin vaihtelua, joten toisella puolella kassia on ilmeikkäämpiä hymiöitä. Virkkuukoukku oli 1.5 mm ja neulaa tarvittiin hymiöiden kirjailuun.

This bag is made with Smile pattern that is by Molla Mills and published in the book Crochet Crush. The base is a bag made out of recycled cotton and I got it for free, as it had some ads printed on it. It has been in use for few years and is good size for groceries, books etc. I sewed on the bag the crochet panels that had the embroireded faces on them. The book's instructions have a graph for traditional smileys, but I wanted to liven up the production line process of making lots of similar things and made various smileys for the b-side. The black yarn is new skein of Alize Angora Gold Simli, but the yellow cotton yarn is actually from the local recycling center where I got a small bag of half-used skeins for one euro. I used 1.5 mm crochet hook and an ordinary needle for the embroidery. And bit of pink scrap yarn was needed for the alternative smileys.

The beanie, sweater and mittens are diy and the ready-to-wear jeans are refashioned.

Neonkeltainen kennopipo / Neon beeswax hat

 

Ostin viime kesänä ulkoilmakirppikseltä neonkeltaiset kierrätysmateriaalimaiharit, joiden seuraksi aloin kaipaamaan yhteensopivia asusteita. Tämä pipo on neulottu Amy van de Laarin Beeswax Hat -ohjeella, jolla olin jo aiemminkin neulonut pipon. Lankoina oli kevätesikon keltaista Novitan 7:ää veljestä ja mohairsekoitelanka Hobbii Diabloa. Puikot 4 mm.

I had gotten a pair of neon yellow boots last summer from a street market and after that the colour started to appeal to me more. So I made a hat to match. The pattern is Beeswax Hat by Amy van de Laar and I have used it before to make a beanie. This time I held two neon colour yarns together; Novita 7 veljestä and mohair-blend Hobbii Diablo. Needles were 4 mm. I made a longer twisted-stitch brim.
