kirpparilta monia vuosia sitten ostettuun puuvillaiseen aamutakkiin oli
ilmestynyt repeämä, jonka paikkasin aplikoimalla sen päälle kukkasen
erilaisista kangasjämistä. Jokin näkymättömämpi geometrinen muoto olisi ehkä sopinut
tähän myös, mutta kangasrikko oli aika suoraviivainen ja halusin tehdä
korjauksen näkyvän paikkaamisen hengessä. Aamutakki on infolappusen
perusteella Thaimaassa tehty ja osa korjauskankaista on Tansaniasta ostettuja,
joten se on kivan globaali pläjäys. Ja näyttää aika vaikuttavalta, sillä
joskus eräs asuinkaverini tarjoutui ostamaan sen minulta. En myynyt. I have bought this cotton dressing gown from thrift store here in Finland many years ago and worn it happily for years. But a tear emerged to it and I decided to mend it with fabric appliqués. A geometric shape might have been more invisible, but in the spirit of visible mending I made a flower with vibrant fabrics to cover the tear. The gown has text telling that it's made in Thailand, and some of the mend-fabrics I used are from Tanzania, so this became an international project. The dressing gown gets many more years of wears hopefully now too. And I hope it doesn't look too bad either. At some point someone offered to buy this dessing gown from me when I was living in a dorm. In a non-creepy type of way, I should say. Just an admiration for the vibrant print. |
