Toukokuun asut / Me-Made-May outfits

Tänään omatekoisten vaatteiden toukokuun, eli Me-Made-Mayn viimeisenä päivänä laitoin ylle tuunatun takkimekon ja tennarit. Laukku on kirpparilta.

On the last day of Me-Made-May I put on a self-made patchwork dress and refashioned high-tops. The backbag is thrifted.

Yesteday's Me-Made-May outfit included a DIY top, brooch and bag. Trousers are thrifted and boots from a street market. Rest is ready-to-wear.

Koko kuun vaatteet. Normaalisti pidän joitain vaatteita useammin kunnes tarvitsevat pesua ja nyt tuolin selkämyksellä on kasa vaatteita, joita voi pitää useamman kerran, mutta muuten teemakuukausi yhdestä asiasta intoillessa auttaa löytämään uusia yhdistelmiä omasta vaatekaapista.

All of the outfits of the month of May. Normally I would get stuck on one pair of trousers for longer, but a theme month helps to dive into the closet and find new combinations and favourites.

Raitatoppi jämälangoista / Scrappy spaghetti western

Neulomistani paidoista oli jäänyt yli siniharmaita lankoja, jotka käytin tähän toppiin. Langoissa oli niin puuvillalanka Catonaa kuin silkkipuuvillaisia sekoitelankoja Papyrusta ja Savannahia, sekä puuvillapellavaista Bomull-Liniä. Lähtökohtana topin muodolle oli Johanna Gehrischin Alice Camisole -ohje, mutta jätin alkuperäisohjeen kukkakirjailut pois kun tästä tulikin sporttisempi. Neuleohje löytyy Novita-lehden numerosta 1/2023. Puikot 4 mm paitaan ja 3.5 mm olkaimiin.

I had left-over yarns from various projects and I decided to use them to make a top. I found Alice Camisole pattern by Johanna Gehrisch from Finnish Novita magazine. The yarn scraps include Scheepjes Catona, Rowan Savannah, Fibra Natura Papyrus and Drops Bomull-Lin. Needles were 4 mm for the top and 3.5 mm for the straps. The stripey result was somewhat sporty, so I left out the flower embroidery of the original pattern.

 Omatekoisen uuden topin lisäksi yllä on itse askarreltu pallokaulakoru. Toinen kaulakoru ja rannekoru on käsityöläismyyjäisistä, kuten myös aurinkolasit. Farmarihousut, bikinitoppi ja kengät on valmisvaatteita.

Today's Me-Made-May outfit includes the new top worn with one DIY necklace. The other necklace, armband and sunglasses are made by artisans and gotten from craft markets. Jeans, boots and the bikini top are ready-to-wear.

Aurinkolasien suojapussukka / Sunglass pouch

Viime kesänä kadotin ainakin kahden aurinkolasit. Ne olivat muutaman euron alelöytöjä, joten taloudellinen menetys ei ollut suuri, mutta ärsytyksen aste oli keskisuuri. Ajattelin, että ehkä kiva aurinkolasikotelo saisi lasit pysymään paremmin mukana. Virkkasin pussukan Alexis Middletonin The Happy Daisy Glass Pouch -ilmaisohjeella, joka löytyy Persia Lou -blogista. Langat on vaaleansinistä Drops Belleä ja tummansinistä ja keltaista Novita Cotton Rescue´ta. Virkkuukoukun kokona oli 3.5 mm. Lisäsin pussukan sisälle pehmentävän vuorikankaan, jotta vähän karheat puuvillapellavat eivät naarmuttaisi aurinkolaseja.

After loosing at least two pairs of sunglasses last summer I thought that making a nice bag for them might help to hold on to them better. Most of my sunglasses are sales finds for few euros, so the monetary loss isn't big, but loosing things is always annoying. I came across The Happy Daisy Glass Pouch pattern by Alexis Middleton. The pattern is available for free on Persia Lou blog. I used 3.5 mm crochet hook and the light blue yarn is Drops Belle and the two other yarns are Novita Cotton Rescue. I added a lining that hopefully prevents the sunglasses from being scratched by the cotton-linen fabric.

Mekko on omatekoinen, korut myyjäis- ja torilöytöjä, paita valmisvaate ja kengät kierrätyskeskuslöytö muutaman päivän takaa 3.30 eurolla.

The dress is a DIY make, jewelry is from craft and street markets, shirt is ordinary shop find and the shoes are from recycling center. I got the shoes less than a week ago and paid very reasonable 3.3 euros for them.

Earlier this week I wore a dotty 2nd hand jumpsuit. The me-made component of the day were the sweater and necklace, that I have assembled out of craft store beads. The bag is by a Finnish artisan.

Tänään äitienpäivänä yllä oli äidin itselleen 1970-luvulla ompelema mekko, jonka olen ominut, sekä itse tekemäni neulekaulus ja perhoskoru. Hiuspanta, aurinkolasit ja vyö on valmisvaatteita.

Today for mother's day I wore a mom-made dress that she had sewn for herself in the 70s and that I have taken over. The knitted collar and brooch are me-mades. Rest of the accessories are ready-to-wear.
