Fiftaripanta / 50s retro earwarmer

Tämä neulepanta syntyi käyttäen neuleohjetta vuodelta 1957. Se löytyi ilmaiseksi Free Vintage Knitting -nimiseltä sivustolta. Lankana on Madame Tricot Paris'n Cashmere Gold ja puikkokoko 3 mm. Neuloin tämän onteloneuleena, jolloin etu- ja takapuoli tehdään yhtä aikaa eikä neuleella oikeastaan ole paraatipuolta ja huonompaa puolta. Panta sopii hyvin yhteen myös pari kuukautta sitten neulomieni vuosimallia 1953 olevien retrolapasten kanssa.

I made this headband using a pattern from the year 1957 to be worn with my mittens that were knitted with a 1953 pattern. The Ear Warmer pattern is available in Free Vintage Knitting and it is originally child-sized. I made it in double-knitting. This is my second time doing double-knitting and it is slower than normal knitting, but the result is very neat mand both sides are presentable. The needle size is 3 mm and yarn is Cashmere Gold by Madame Tricot Paris.

Päällä oleva kaarrokevillapaita on isoäidin vuosikymmeniä sitten tekemä. Se on erinomaisessa kunnossa yhtä kohtaa lukuunottamatta, jossa lanka on ohentunut. Lanka on jonkinlaista villasekoitetta, jossa on tekokuitua mukana. Housut kirpparilta.
The colourwork yoke sweater is made by my grandma back when these were in fashion, so anything from 1950s to 1970s. The yarn is wool-blend of some kind that has kept it's colour well. The trousers are thrifted.

Jämäkangashiusdonitsi / Scrunchie from scraps

Ompelemastani retropitsipaidasta jäi jämäkangasta, joten ompelin hiuspannan ja -donitsin. Leikkasin ne vapaalla kädellä ja surauttelin yhteen saumurilla. Hiuspannan takapalaan  ja donitsin sisälle lisäsin kuminauhaa, jotta ne joustavat.

I had some yarn scraps from the retro shirt made few weeks ago. I cut them in pieces and sewed together with an overlocker. Bit of elastic band added inside and I had hair accessories.

Palmikkopanta / Braided headband

Suuressa käsityölehdessä 11-12/2018 oli ohje norjalaisen suunnittelijaduon Arne& Carlosin mohairhiuspantaan Svanhild. Käytin villapaitani jämälankoja, 4 mm puikkoja ja jätin ohjeen silmukkakuviokikkailun pois. Syntyi mukava palmikkopanta.

I have left-over mohair yarns from my Pangolin sweater, so I decided to knit a headband with them. I used Svanhild pattern by Norwegian designer duo Arne & Carlos that was published in a Finnish craft magazine. The needle was 4 mm and I modified the pattern by leaving the texture out and going for plain stockinette stitch all around. The ends are croched together and hidden behind the braids.

Päällä itsetehdyt villapaita, kaulahuivi ja mekko. Kengät, sukkikset ja hanskat valmisvaatteita.

Kauluripipopanta / Bow-beanie-cowl

Hiljattain ommellusta pallomekosta jäi ylimääräistä kangasta ja päätin kokeilla niillä jotain. Leikkasin neljä suorakulmiota ja vetonarun. Saumurilla surauttelin reunoja yhteen ja vetonarulla kaulurin saa kiristettyä pipoksi. Rusetista tuli näin iso, koska kangastakin oli reilusti. Se on kuitenkin irroitettavissa. Koska kyseessä oli jämäkangas mahdollinen epäonnistuminen ei haitannut kovin paljoa.
I made this dress about a month ago and since there was left-over fabric I decided to try something with it. I cut four rectangles and a drawstring. This can be used either as a cowl or if drawn tight, as a messy-bun beanie. The bow is so big because there was a plenty of fabric, but it can be detached if it feels too much.

Pantapää / Headbander

Neulepantaan ohje löytyi Martin Storeyn kirjasta Kauneimmat palmikkoneuleet. Muutaman nyppy jäi pois kun luin ohjetta huonosti, mutta ihan käyttökelpoinen silti.
Instructions for this knitted headband with berry motif are from the book Aran knits by Martin Storey. I read the instructions poorly at the beginning and few berries went missing from the design, but result is still nice. The book has several models I´d like to do.
