Puuvillaisa raitaneule / The scrappy scope sweater

Olen tehnyt jo kerran aikaisemminkin raitaneuleen tällä Joji Locatellin The Scope -ohjeella. Tällä kertaa käytin puuvillasekoitelankoja, joita minulle oli kertynyt yksittäisiä keriä alennusmyynneistä ja jäännöskoreita ostettuina, hintahaitarissa 1-3 euroa kipale. Mukana on niin Fibra Natura Papyrusta, Novita Wool Cottonia, Sandnes Duoa, Rico Lazy Hazy Summer Cottonia kuin Drops Cotton Merinoa. Puikkokokoina 3.5 mm ja 3.75 mm.

I have knitted already one stripey sweater with Joji Locatelli's The Scope pattern. This time I made a more scrappy and randomly striped version with odd balls of cotton-blend yarns, that I had in my stash. There is some Fibra Natura Papyrys, Novita Wool Cotton, Sandnes Duo, Rico Lazy Hazy Summer Cotton and Drops Cotton Merino. Knitting needles were 3.5 mm and 3.75 mm.

Kukkaneule helmikoristein / Tulip sweater with beads

Tämä neulepaita on tehty Melody Hoffmannin Tulip-ohjetta muokaten. Tein ohjeella muutama vuosi sitten sinisen neuleen, joka on sopivan simppeli ja silti vähän fiini piparkakkureunuksisine helmoineen. Tämän paidan neuloin kahdella eri värillä Drops Fiesta-sukkalankaa, josta vaaleanpunertavaa lankaa pidin yhdessä Novitan Tuuli-mohairsekoitelangan kanssa. Lopuksi ompelin neulaa ja mohairlankaa käyttäen päälle kasan kukan muotoisia muovihelmiä, joita olin ostanut sadan kappaleen pussin askarteluliikkeestä. Koska en tiedä miten helmet reagoivat käytössä, lisäsin se jälkikäteen, jotta ne voi myös poistaa, jos ne vaikka alkavat halkeilla tai hilseillä pesussa. Puikkokokoina 4 mm ja 5 mm.

This sweater is knitted with Tulip pattern that is designed by Melody Hoffmann. I made a pullover with the pattern few years ago, and it's a nice simple staple garment, that has a fun scalloped detail at the hem. This time I knitted a multicolour version with two shades of Drops Fiesta yarn. The pink yarn was held together with Novita Tuuli mohair-blend yarn. In the end I stitched to the front of the sweater a bunch of flower-shaped beads in a daisy chain type of configuration. I sprinkled them on top with yarn and mohair thread, so that they can be taken off, if they get damaged in the wash. Knitting needle sizes used for this sweater were 4 mm and 5 mm.

Seilorineule / Cabinmates sweater

Tämä neulepaita on tehty Caitlin Hunterin Cabinmates -neuleohjeella, jota olin testineulomassa kesällä ennen sen virallista julkaisua, joka tapahtuu nyt elokuussa. Käyttämäni tummansininen lanka on Drops Karismaa ja oranssit kerät kahta eri sävyä Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk -lankaa, joita neuloin kaksi lankaa kerrallaan. Puikkokokoina 3.5 mm joustinneuleeseen ja 4 mm paitaosioon.

This sweater is knitted with Cabinmates pattern that is designed by Caitlin Hunter. I was preview knitting it in the summer before it's publication, that is taking place now in August. It was fun to try out this cute pattern and see the sailor motifs appear in the knitting. I decided to make my sailors ginger.  The blue yarn is Drops Karisma, and the terracotta orange yarns are two shades of Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk held together two strands at a time. Knitting needle sizes were 3.5 mm and 4 mm.

These shorts are DIY and sewn with a Burda magazine pattern.

Neulottu toukkamekko / Catepillar stripes dress

Tämä neulemekko on tehty hieman muokaten, tai pääasiassa pidentäen, Andrea Mowryn Stripes!-ohjetta. Olen jo kahdesti neulonut tällä ohjeella hyvin samansävyisen pörröpaidan ja kesäisen puuvillapaidan. Pörröpaidan lahjoitin äidilleni, koska se oli hieman liian iso, mutta pidin sen minttusuklaisista väreistä. Tämä versio on mekkopituinen ja siksi toivottavasti lämmin. Langat on erilaisia mohair-sekoitelankoja, erikoislankoja ja muun muassa beigeä pörrölankaa, joka on kierrätyskeskuksesta ostetusta neuleesta purettua materiaalia. Puikkokokoina 4 mm ja 4.5 mm.

This sweater-dress is knitted with Stripes! pattern that is by designer Andrea Mowry. I have used the same pattern twice before: I made a stripey fluffy pullover smilar to this, that I ended up giving to my mom, and a summer version in cotton-blends. This time I made a fluffy dress that should be very cosy and comfy to wear. Many of the yarns are mohair-blends. And I used part of an unraveled sweater bought from recycling center. The textured beige yarn is very nice indeed. Knitting needles used for this were 4 mm and 4.5 mm.

Juhlava palmikkoneule / Spell sweater

Tämän neuleen oli tarkoitus valmistua jouluksi, mutta prosessi venyi niin purkamisen ja uudelleen neulomisen, kuin talvikuiville käsille hieman epämukavan langan vuoksi. Ohje on Meiju Kallion Spell kirjasta Letillä. Lanka on Hobbii Metallicoa, jossa on vain 9 % villaa keinokuitujen lisäksi, joten tämä ei ole kovin lämmin neule, vaikkakin se on juhlava himmeän kiiltonsa ansiosta. Puikkokokoina 4.5 mm ja 5 mm. 

This sweater was going to be Christmas sweater, but the completion was delayed due to ripping back to fix some mistakes, and because the yarn was hard to knit. The pattern is Spell by Meiju Kallio from the book Entwined. The yarn is Hobbii Metallico, which looks nice but is not very warm material due to the 9 % wool content. But it makes for a festive sweater. Knitting needle sizes were 4.5 mm and 5 mmm.

 

Hame on isoäidinperintoä ja merkkiä Merry Finn, kotimaista tuotantoa noin 1960-luvulta. Hattu on Juhtbackan kirppislöytö ja loput asusteet uusina hankittuja.

The skirt is grandmother's old and by a brand called Merry Finn, probably from 1960s. The hat is from a 2nd hand market and rest of the accessories are ready-to-wear.

Sinisävyinen kaarrokeneule / Blue bobble sweater

Tämä neulepaita on neulottu äidille lahjaksi. Ohje on Teti Lutsakin Fossatun Sweater -ilmaisohje, jota muokkasin jonkin verran jämälankoja varten. Lankoina on kirppislöytölankoja ja jämäkeriä, joita käytin loppuun niin, että siirryin seuraavaan väriin yhden värin ollessa loppumaisillaan. Tähän sinivalkoisuuteen inspiraationa olivat myös tulevien olympialaisten suomalaisurheilijoiden joukkueasut, jossa on tällaista liukuväriefektiä myös. Puikkokoot olivat 5.5 mm ja 6 mm. Lisäksi käytin 3 mm virkkuukoukkua palloihin ja kaula-aukkoon.

This sweater is a gift to my mom. I used scrap yarns and several thrifted skeins. The base is a free pattern called Fossatun Sweater by Teti Lutsak that I modified to be able to dip into my mountain of scrap yarn. I was also inspired by the team oufit of the Finnish Olympic team for the Winter games that take place in few months in Italy. Those outfits also have a gradient blue-and-white thing going on. This sweater is knitted with 5.5 mm and 6 mm knitting needles. I also used 3 mm crochet hook for the bobbles and neckline.

Kuutamokissapaita / Nocturnal cat sweater

Tämä kaarrokeneule on tehty Nocturnal jumper -ohjeella, joka on Weichien Chanin käsialaa. Tein oman versioni oranssein kissoin totta kai, inspiraationa punaturkkinen Pippuri-pentu. Lankoina on vähän sitä ja tätä varastoistani, vain oranssia alpakkasekoitelankaa piti ostaa hieman lisää, jotta sain kissat sen värisiksi. Puikkokokoina 4.5 mm ja 5 mm.

This sweater is made with Noctunal jumper pattern that is designed by Weichien Chan of Saskie & co, or formerly of The Petite Knitter. I had bought this pattern few years ago, and finally I made my version with ginger cats, inspired by kitten Pippuri. I used mostly yarns that I already had in my stash. I had to buy some more orange alpaca blend yarn to finish the sweater. Knitting needle sizes were 4.5 mm and 5 mm.

Hame on vitosen alelöytö ja Pippuri-kissa on korvaamaton.

The skirt was a sales find gotten for a fiver. And Pippuri the cat is priceless.

Sydänneule / Heart sweater

Tämä neule on versio ruotsalais-suomalaisen suunnittelija Marita Clementzin Pirkko Sweater -neuleesta, joka löytyi Knit Modern Scandi Sweaters -kirjasta. Ohje oli ylhäältä alaspäin neulottava, mutta se ei toiminut minun ensimmäisellä yritykselläni, joten tein laatikkomaisemman neuleen alhaalta ylöspäin neuloen. Lankoina on erilaisia mohair-sekoitelankoja kuten Schachenmayr Fashion Kid Light, Novita Tuuli, Hobbii Diablo, Cewec Anisia ja pieniä määriä muutamaa muutakin lankaa. Puikkokoot 4 mm ja 4.5 mm.

This sweater is a modified version of Pirkko sweater by Marita Clementz, from this Swedish-Finnish designer's book Knit Modern Scandi Sweaters. My version is more boxy and knit bottom-up, instead of top-down raglan of the original pattern. I used 4 mm and 4.5 mm knitting needles. Yarns are mohair-blends like Schachenmayr Fashion Kid Light, Novita Tuuli, Hobbii Diablo, Cewec Anisia and small amounts of few other yarns.

Kukkakaarrokkeellinen neulepusero / Matilda tee

Viime vuonna neulomastani raitapaidasta jäi yli muutama kerä Scheepjes Stone Washed -puuvillasekoitelankaa, joista neuloin tämän kukkakaarrokeneuleen Tata Matilda -ohjeella, joka on Marziasknit-suunnittelijan käsialaa. Tein tästä lyhythihaisen t-paidan ja loin jämälangoilla likuväriefektin, jossa valkoisten kerien loputtua jatkoin ensin vaalean harmaalla ja sitten tummemman harmaalla helmaa kohti niin kauan kuin lankaa riitti. Resorit on neulottu mustalla. Puikkokoot 3.25 mm, 3.5 mm ja 4 mm.

I made a stripey sweater last year and I had few yarn skeins of left-overs from that: white, grey and black skeins of Sheepjes Stone Washed cotton-blend yarn. I decided to knit a tee with those using Tata Matilda pattern by designer Marziasknit. This was knit top-down, and I used up first white yarn on the flowery yoke and moved on after that to light grey yarn, and after running out of that, I moved on to darker grey yarn. Ribbing was done with black yarn. Knitting needle sizes were 3.25 mm, 3.5 mm and 4 mm.

Neuletilkkupaita / Framed tee

Viime syksynä tein neuletakkiversion Andrea Mowryn Framed-ohjeella. Nyt päätin tehdä kesäisemmän t-paitamaisen neulepuseron samaa ohjetta muokaten. Langat ovat eri aikoina aleista ja kokeilumielessä ostattuja puuvillasekoitelankoja: Drops Belle, Sandnes Line, Fibra Natura Papyrus, Austermann Playa Organic Cotton, Novita Wool Cotton ja Sublime Yarns Tussah Silk DK. Olin ostanut kerän pari kutakin väreissä, joista pidän, ja ne upposivat tähän melko hyvin, vaikka mietinkin parin värin purkamista, koska materiaalien kiilto näytti liian erilaiselta läheltä katsoen. Toistaiseksi väritys ja materiaaliyhdistelmät saavat kuitenkin olla näin. Puikkokoot 4 mm ja 4.5 mm.

I had knitted a cardigan with Andrea Mowry's Framed pattern last autumn. Now I made more summery t-shirt version out of it. The yarns are various cotton-blends that I have bought from sales in the past few years here and there, without a plan where or how to use them. I liked the colours though, and luckily they melt quite nicely together here. There are yarns like Drops Belle, Sandnes Line, Fibra Natura Papyrus, Austermann Playa Organic Cotton, Novita Wool Cotton and Sublime Yarns Tussah Silk DK. The silk yarn had different shine to other yarns and it bothered me a bit, and I though of unraveling that block, but from distance it looks fine. So for now I live with this tee and see if it bothers me later on. Knitting needle sizes were 4 mm and 4.5 mm.

Venny-neuletunika / Mild stripes sweater

Aloitin tämän Venny-neulepaidan neulomisen jo vuonna 2021, mutta käyttämäni mohairsekoitelanka loppui kesken ja sain lisää samaa laatua vasta noin puoli vuotta myöhemmin. Paita jäi kuitenkin yhä kesken ja nyt muutamaa vuotta myöhemmin tikkusin sen vihdoin valmiiksi ja annoin äidilleni lahjaksi. Venny-ohje on Veera Välimäen Raidat-kirjasta ja helmaan lisäsin Melody Hoffmannin Tulip-ohjeesta piparkakkureunuksen. Lankoina on Fibra Natura Papyrus, joka on puuvillaa ja silkkiä, sekä Schachenmayr Fashion Kid Light, joka on mohair-nailon-akryylisekoite ja jota neuloin kaksinkertaisena. Puikkokokoina 4 mm ja 4.5 mm.

I had started to knit this version of Venny sweater already in 2021, but ran out of one of the yarns and stopped for a while. Now I finished it and gave it to my mom as a gift. The base is Veera Välimäki's Venny pattern and I added to it a wavy hem from Melody Hoffmann's pattern Tulip. I used 4 mm and 4.5 mm knitting needles. The mildly stripey look comes from two very similar shades of yarn. One is Fibra Natura Papyrus, a cotton and silk blend. The other yarn is Schachenmayr Fashion Kid Light, that I held double and that's a mohair-nylon-acrylic blend.

Tyllimekko on outlet-myynnistä kympillä ostettu, kengät kirpparilta muistaakseni 7 eurolla ja huivi ja huopahelmet äidin kaapista lainattuja.

The tulle-dress is bought from an outlet sale for a tenner. Shoes are from thrift store and gotten for 7 euros. Scarf and wool-pearls are from mom's closet.

Lehväkuvioinen kaarrokeneule / El Naranjo sweater

Tämä kaarrokeneule on neulottu Claudia Quintanillan El Naranjo -ohjeella kirjasta Memory Lane. Halusin kirjan kuvan kaltaiset värit ja saavutin sen useampaa lankaa käyttäen ja vaihdellen ja yhdistäen. Siniset ovat Isager Spinniä, Drops Kid-Silkiä ja Novitan Tuuli-lankaa. Oksissa liukuvat Scheepjes Our Tribe, Sandnes Mini Alpakka sekä Novita Tuuli ja Katia 50 Mohair Shades. Puikkokoot 3 mm ja 3.5 mm. Lisäksi kirjoin etupuolelle pari tusinaa lasihelmiä, mutta ne näkyvät vain todella läheltä.

This sweater is knitted with El Naranjo pattern that is designed by Claudia Quintanilla and published in Memory Lane book. I liked the colours of the sample is the book, so I imitated the colour scheme. For that I used blue yarns like Isager Spinni, Drops Kid-Silk and Novita Tuuli. For the gradiating pink-purple-orange leaf-motif yoke I used Scheepjes Our Tribe, Sandnes Garn Mini Alpakka held together with mohair-blends like Novita Tuuli and Katia 50 Mohair Shades. Knitting needle sizes used for this were 3 mm and 3.5 mm. I also embroidered some glass bead on the front side, but those are visible only at very close proximity.

Rusettihuivi on omatekoinen. Kirppisbaskeria on tuunattu. Myös hame on kirpparilta. Hansikkaat on lahjaksi saadut ja loput asusteet valmisvaatteita.

The scarfette is DIY. Beret is thrifted but has some embroidery on it. Skirt is thrifted too. Gloves were gifted and rest is ready-to-wear.

Mustavalkoinen raitapaita / The scope sweater

Tämä raitapaita on neulottu Joji Locatellin The Scope -ohjeella. Lankoina on neljää eri sävyä Scheepjes Stone Washed -puuvillasekoitelankaa. Puikkokokoina 3 mm ja 3.5 mm. Suunnittelin tämä vähän maltillisemman väriseksi, joten tätä voi käyttää paikoissa, jotka eivät kannusta tai sovellu väri-ilotteluun. Silloin yksinkertainen mustavalkoinen on hyvä ja tyylikäs valinta.

This classic sweater is knitted with The Scope pattern that is by Joji Locatelli. The yarn used is Scheepjes Stone Washed that is a cotton-acrylic blend yarn. Knitting needles were 3 mm and 3.5 mm. The colours are more muted than my normal palette, but I feel that this stripey shirt is a solid choice for those situations that bright colours are out of place.

Baskerissa ja hansikkaissa on oma kädenjälki. Hame kirpparilta. Aurinkolasit kaupan hyllyltä.

Pörriäisponcho / Herbalist swoncho

Tämä poncho on ollut suunnitelmissa kolmisen vuotta aina sen ilmestymisestä lähtien ja työn alla pari kuukautta, kun tammikuun kylmimpinä päivinä aloin kaivata todella lämmintä päälle pantavaa. Ohje on Olga Putanon Herbalist Swoncho. Se on suunniteltu kolmella värillä neulottavaksi, mutta helpotin haastetta neulomalla vain kahta väriä kerralla ja kirjomalla loput värit jälkikäteen silmukoita jäljittelemällä. Lankoina on alesta parilla eurolla kipale ostettuja lankoja sekä kirpparilta löytyneet kullan ja hopean väriset mysteerilangat. Puikkokokoina 4.5 mm, 5 mm ja 5.5 mm.

This poncho is knitted with Herbalist Swoncho pattern that is by Ukrainian-American designer Olga Putano. I had gotten the pattern already in 2021 when it was published, but had thought that it would take a long while to knit with its 3-colour stranded colourwork. Now in January it was quite a cold spell here in Finland, so I started to dream of very warm outfits. And I started to make this, but made the task easier for myself by knitting just two colours at a time and duplicate-stitching the rest of the colours, like the details of the flowers and the bees, afterwards. The yarns are sales finds, like black Katia Hechizo and beige Filati da Collezione Fun and some thrifted metallic threads. Knitting needle sizes used for this were 4.5 mm, 5 mm and 5.55 mm.

Lintuparvipusero / Birds in flight sweater

Tämä kaarrokeneule on lahja äidilleni. Se on neulottu Kari Haugenin Birds in Flight -ilmaisohjeella, joka on saatavilla norjaksi House of Yarn -sivustolta. Käytin lähinnä ohjeen kaaviota, jonka neuloin ylösalaisin, vaikka alkuperäinen ohje on helmasta ylöspäin neulottavaksi tarkoitettu. Jätin joitain kuvioita ja värejä pois ja myös muodosta tuli yksinkertaisempi. Lankoina on tummansininen Novita Rose ja vaaleansininen Novita Lumous. Puikot 4 mm ja 4.5 mm.

This sweater is a gift for my mom. I made it by modifying Birds in Flight pattern by Kari Haugen. It is a free pattern available only in Norwegian on House of Yarn website. I mostly used just the bird chart and knitted it upside down from the original pattern by making this a top-down sweater. I also left out some of the colourwork and simplified it. The yarns are dark blue Novita Rose and light blue Novita Lumous. Knitting needles used for this were 4 mm and 4.5 mm.

Hunajakennoneule / Bees and honey sweater

Tämän neule on yhdistelmä useaa eri ohjetta. Alkuperäinen idea kukkakirjonnalla koristellusta palmikkoneuleesta on Neulo-lehdestä 4/2022. Halusin kuitenkin erilaisen ja monipuolisemman palmikkokokoelman, joten poimin palmikkokuvioita eri ohjeista, kuten People, Honeycomb Wrap, Cliffs of Moher ja Lempivaate. Lisäksi kirjontaan vaikutti Alice Camisolen kukat. Pyrin runsausteen tårta-på-tårta tyyliin. Lankana on Järbo Svensk Ull, joka on rustiikkista ruotsalaista villaa. Sitä kului lähes 6 kerää. Väri on hunajasinappimainen, johon lankean usein lankaostoksilla. Tätäkin olin ostanut alunperin muutaman kerän kädentaitomessuilta tietämättä, mitä niillä teen. Kaarrokkeen kukkakirjontaan kului yllättävän paljon lankaa ja aikaa. Ajattelin selviäväni parilla tunnilla ja muutamalla grammalla, mutta kirjontalankaa kului lähes kerä ja aikaakin ehkä viitisen tuntia. Neulepuikkokokona 4.5 mm ja 5 mm.

This sweater is a so-called Franken-sweater as it is a combination of several patterns all mashed up into one. The original spark was a flower-embroidered cable sweater seen in a Finnish knitting magazine. The pattern is by Rico and translated either from German or Danish into Finnish. I wanted to change the cable-patterns though, so I picked motifs from several differen patterns, includind patterns called People, Honeycomb Wrap, Cliffs of Moher and Lempivaate. And embroidery is inspired by Alice Camisole. It took longer and used more yarn than I expected, but there are over hundred embroidered flowers on the yoke. The yarn I used here is honey-mustard yellow Järbo Svensk Ull, which is a rustic Swedish sheep wool. Knitting needle sizes used for this were 4.5 mm and 5 mm.

Tämän baskerin kirjonta ja ommellut kietaisuhousut on itse tehtyjä myös.

The embroidery on this beret and these sewn wrap-trousers are both DIY makes too.

Keväinen neuletoppi / Cold shoulder crop top

Neuloin tämä keväisen topin Park Williamsin Cold Shoulder Crop -ohjeella. Lanka on Rowan Savannah-puuvillasilkkisekoitelankaa, jota olin ostanut alesta ilman muuta suunnitelmaa kuin että langoista saisi kevyen topin. Tähän toppiin päädyin kun suunnittelijalla oli synttärimyynti ja päätin ostaa kokeeksi ohjeen. Lankaa kului kuusi kerää. Muokkasin hihoja hieman ohjetta pidemmiksi ja tein tavallisen ribbineuleen sijasta rikottua ribbiä helmaan ja kaulukseen. Puikot 3.5, 4 ja 4.5 mm.

This top is knitted with Cold Shoulder Crop pattern that is by Park Williams. I had bought few skeins of this yarn, now discontinued cotton-silk blend Rowan Savannah, from a sale last summer without a specific plan where to use the yarn. Then I came across new-to-me designer Park's Birthday sale, so I decided to try this top. I used six skeins of yarn, and needles were 3.5, 4 and 4.5 mm.

Housut on alelöytö, kengät kesätorilta, korut ja aurinkolasit käsityöläistoreilta ja huivi löytyi kotoa ja voisi olla sifonkihuivien kultakaudelta, eli kasarilta.

The trousers are ready-to-wear sales find, bangles and specs are from craft fairs, shoes from a street market and scarf is found at home and either mom's or granny's old.
