Vintagekirjoneuleita / Fair Isle knits

1900-luvun puolivälin kuvastomuotia Pohjois-Amerikasta kirjasarjasta Fashionable Clothing from the Sears Catalogs. Sarvipäät olivat selkeästi muodissa.

Machine-made and mass-marketed styles from 1940s and 1950s seen in Fashionable Clothing from the Sears Catalogs. Colourwork pullovers with deer motifs were cleary in fashion.

Fair Isle knits were fashionable especially during the first haf of the 1900s and got their name from the small Scottish island of Fair Isle where knits were made as cottage industry and sold to rest of Britain, and even abroad. Another term for the colourwork knitting is stranded knitting. Some examples of classic Fair Isle, or modernised stranded colourwork, from Summerland, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, All Creatures Great and Small and Hollywood. Kotiasussakin oli yllättäen perinteisistä villapaidoista tuttuja kuvioita.
