Sinisävyinen myssy / Blue marled beanie

Tämä lahjapipon liukuvat värit on muodostuneet kahta lankaa yhdessä neuloen. Villat on jämälankoja ja jopa lyhyitä langanpätkiä sai käytettyä tähän. Puikkokoko 4.5 mm. Paita on omatekoinen neulomus viime vuodelta.

This marled hat is knitted from scrap yarns that I held two together for blended colour effect. The needles used for this were 4.5 mm. The hat's a gift, but modeled here to give a better idea of how it looks like when worn. The sweater is a diy make from last year.

Jouluneulesuunnitelmia / Xmas sweater plans

Jouluna olisi mukava pukea päälleen jokin juhlava neule. Sormet syyhyävät uusien neuleprojektien pariin, mutta jo pari vuotta kesken ollut Kathleen Sperlingin Tracery-neuleliivi sopisi myös joulukirkkoneuleeksi. Toki useita muitakin vaihtoehtoja on, sillä mahtavia neuleohjeita on niin paljon.

 Ugly Christmas sweaters come around every year, and I appreciate a funny and kitschy sweater, but also like clothes that can be worn for more than about month a year. A Christmas sweater for my own use doesn't need to be particularly holiday-themed, but something nice, elevated and bit fancy. I like to plan and start new projects, but I also have some works-in-progress that would be suitable to wear around holiday season. This modification of the Tracery vest by Kathleen Sperling has been on my needles for couple of years and would be nice to finish and wear finally. 

Tämä Bente Presterudin Lina Marie's Dress -neulemekko olisi upea, mutta sen neulomiseen kuluisi ikuisuuksia. Neulekoneen käytön opetteluun tämä kyllä motivoisi. Koneella tämä ohuesta langasta tehdyn kirjoneuletaidonnäytteen saisi aikaan huomattavasti nopeammin. Käyttöpaikkoja tälle norjalaistyyliselle perinneneuleista inspiraationsa saaneelle mekolle ei välttämättä ole kuitenkaan niin paljoa eikä se nilkkapituisena ole kovin kätevä mahdollisilla loppuvuoden kurakeleillä.

 This full length knit dress called Lina Marie's Dress by Bente Presterud from the book Knit Like a Norwegian would be fabulous, but would also take a forever to knit. I have been pondering learning to use a knitting machine, which my mom for example has rented at some point from a Finnish craft association, where you can take courses in its use, and book a machine and time for knitting.

Junko Okamoton Bouquet sweater -svetari neulotaan paksummasta langasta ja sitä voi käyttää ympäri vuoden, vaikka juhlallisemmilla langoilla siitä saisi jouluisen.

 Bouquet sweater by Junko Okamoto is knitted from worsted-weight yarn, and thus would be a fairly speedy knit. With fancy yarns it would make a nice Christmas sweater that can be worn after the holiday season too.

Lumihiutalehattu / Snowflake hat

Tämä lahjapipo on neulottu Lisa Richardsonin Canaan Hat -ohjetta varioiden. Käytin jämälankoja ja 4.5 mm puikkoja. Lumihiutaleet kirjottiin valmiiseen pipoon.

This beanie with embroidered snowflakes is knitted with the Canaan Hat pattern that is by Lisa Richardson for Rowan. I used scrap yarns, and marled blues and greys together for the hat body. Needles 4.5 mm.

This crochet cowl is a diy make from few years back and suits the spooky season.

Palmikkojumpperi / Arbor Vitae pullover

Tämä villapaita on neulottu Joji Locatellin Arbor Vitae -ohjeella, joka on julkaistu Pom Pom Quarterly -neulelehdessä. Lehdessä oli teemana vintage-tyyli, joten paidassa on vaikutteita muista muoti- ja aikakausista, esimerkiksi 30-luvusta, jolta vertailukohdaksi löytyy samankaltainen paita Sweater News -lehtisestä. Langat paidassani on vaaleaa Novita Baby Merino Dreamiä ja mustaa mohair-sekoitetta Alize Kid Royalia ja muita jäännöslankoja tupsuihin. Puikkokoko 2.75 mm ja 3.25 mm.

 This sweater is knitted with the Arbor Vitae pattern by Joji Locatelli. It was published in Pom Pom Quarterly magazine that had sort of a vintage-theme issue, so all designs harked back to styles of the past, which is why the 1930s style Sweater News looks like a cousin of this one with its V-shape cabling. I used 2 yarns marled together: white and speckled Novita Baby Merino Dream with black mohair-blend yarn Alize Kid Royal. For tassels I used the scraps of another mohair-blend yarn. Needle sizes I ended up with were 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm.

Baskeri on kirpparilta, villasukat ja -hanskat on omatekoisia ja kengät kesätorilta, loppujen kuteiden ollessa valmisvaatteita. Tavoittelin kasari-ysärityyliä, mutta palmikkopaita sopisi myös esimerkiksi 1940-luvun jäljittelyyn.

I styled this in sort of a 1980s or 1990s look, but with another skirt this could be 1930s or 40s look too. The red pompom hat is 2nd hand, socks and gloves are diy, shoes are from a street market and the rest is ready-to-wear.

Syysasusteita / Spooktober

 

Syksyiselle kävelylenkille puin Lumi Karmitsan ohjeella neulomani Hilpeät kallosukat, jotkat ovat olleet paljon käytössä ja pesussa, mutta kestäneet hyvin viitisen vuotta venytystä ja vanutusta. Käsissä on Marjukka Vuosisalon X-Ray -ohjeella viime vuonna neulotut hansikkaat.

For an autumnal walk at the beginning of October I wore me-made wool socks and gloves. The socks are knitted with a pattern by Finnish designer Lumi Karmitsa about five years ago, and they have lasted all the wears and washes very well. The gloves are knitted with X-Ray pattern by Marjukka Vuorisalo last year.
